16th July 2011

Finally, it was the day where my home country, had to fight themselves against the enthusiastically challenged Liverpool F.C. In my head, i had to think it through. Which one was i suppose to support? My home country, Malaysia? or Liverpool? At this point, i knew the answer was simple. When i woke up, i had quite some time before i had to leave for the Stadium. Ila and Amy slept over, as we were going together. Went swimming for an hour to freshen up, and straightaway got ready for the Stadium. Left about 12 and had to make a few stops; Amy's and Ila's crib, and the petrol station. After that, we were on the go and ready for some action. We knew we weren't gonna survive as we arrived quite late. Yes, we indeed got lost. However, got into track and arrived at the Stadium. Went to our gate. Shockingly, there were two queues which i didn't get. We were stupidly queuing up by the longer line. When my brother finally arrive, together with my cousin and other sister, they told us to just cut lines. Which, we definitely did. I didn't think we'd get good seats by the time we lined up. Luckily, we got good seats ! We were literally seating in front. It wasn't as good as the seats we had gotten during the training session but, it was definitely good enough for me. Waited hours for the players to arrive. When they arrived, crowds of people started cheering and chanting Liverpool's "You'll Never Walk Alone" song. It was definitely a memory never forgotten. There were more than 80,000 fans of both Liverpool and Harimau Malaya which was definitely a good show for the players since it was going to be their second last leg. Everyone had a taste of chanting, shouting, and calling their favorite team members. I lost a bit of my voice due to my shouts for Brad Jones. But it was definitely unforgettable. The game was definitely a moment to reminisce about in the future. Although the malaysian team lost, they lost with dignity and pride. They achieved something they've never achieved before. They scored 3 against Liverpool F.C. A highly trained professional football players. Whilst Liverpool F.C. managed to score 6 against Malaysian defenders. It wasn't a sad moment, that's for sure. It was a moment of proud-ness. This game showed how, our Malaysian team has improved a lot. After the game, Ila, Yasmin, Amy and I ran to the car and tried to reach to One World Hotel before the players did, to get their autograph. We got lost along the way, however got back on track. When we reached, there were definitely loads of Liverpool fans laying about the hotel waiting for their presence. We waited for 2 hours and it was a no show. I was curious at the presence at the time. And so, i asked one of the workers. He said, the footballers had left for Singapore right after the Football game before. Their bags were all already in the bus, packed. When i told Amy the news, we weren't happy of course. We were tired, sleepy and all we wanted was to go home and get a night's rest. It was definitely a day to remember forever.
